This is a 10* WESTERN-CONFERENCE TOTAL OF THE YEAR on the UNDER Warriors/Spurs.
As primarily a situational handicapper, I love the way this one sets up to be much more of a defensive affair than what the oddsmakers are trying to lead us to believe.
This game is being played in the Alamo Dome in front of 70,000 people, so I think the environment alone will help in driving tonight's total UNDER the number.
But each team has been playing to several higher-scoring games of late, and because of that, I think this total is now elevated a few points higher than normal out of perception.
Golden State is just 3-16 on the road, and it enters off three straight home losses. Both SU and ATS. The Warriors are in real trouble this year after winning the entire thing last year. That's for various reasons though of course. Regardelss, this is the start of a tough five-game road trip and I absolutely expect Golden State to double down on the defensive end in this high-profile game and after three straight home blowout losses.
The Spurs are just 1-4 SU in their last five, but 5-0 ATS. They've also seen the total go OVER the number in three straight, which is significant to note in our case as San Antonio has in fact seen the total go UNDER the number in five of its last six after playing to three or more straight OVERs in a row.
The overall situation each team finds itself in, coupled with stats/trends listed above, all point to the UNDER as the correct call in my opinion.
