This is a 10* TOTAL EXPRESS on the UNDER Devils/Hurricanes.
Each team has been playing to several higher-scoring games of late, but I'm exepcting a much more defensive affair here between these two Eastern-Conference heavyweights.
New Jersey has now seen the total go OVER the number in four of its last five after it's 4-3 OT home win over the Rangers two nights ago. The Devils played the Hurricanes on January 1st and lost 5-4, which is signficant to note here as New Jersey has in fact seen the total go UNDER the number in four of its last five in trying to avenge a home loss against an opponent.
Carolina is coming off three straight losses and it's seen the total go OVER the number in four straight. That's abnormal for a team that only averages 3.10 GPG, ranked 20th. Despite their recent slump, the Hurricanes are still collectively only allowing 2.67 GPG, ranked sixth.
I think we're going to see a very intense, but ultimately lower-scoring contest here finally.
