This is a 10* TOTAL ART-OF-WAR on the UNDER between the LA Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
While both teams are coming off high-scoring affairs (the Dodgers beat the Phillies 10-8 yesterday, while Pittsburgh hung on for a 7-5 win over the Cubs on Wednesday), all signs point to a classic pitchers duel in the opener of this three-game set. The visitors hand the ball to Clayton Kershaw (9-6, 2.37 ERA) who continues to absolutely dominate, he'd go eight scoreless in a victory over the Angels on Saturday, allowing two hits while striking out seven. Note that Kershaw has now thrown 37 consecutive scoreless innings, striking out 45 batters and giving up just one walk during that stretch. The home side counters with Gerrit Cole (14-5, 2.29 ERA) who is coming off a rare loss in which he gave up three runs off seven hits over five innings to the Reds on Saturday. Note though that Cole would record eight K's to just one walk though and he has to be feeling pretty confident that he can bounce back here as he's 8-2 with a tiny 2.60 ERA in front of the home town crowd this season. We feel that the stage is set for these two competent hurlers to battle deep into the latter innings, the only logical move is indeed on the UNDER.
