The visitors hand the ball to Alfredo Simon (7-5, 3.94 ERA) who gave up six runs off 15 hits in a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday. Simon continues to spiral down the proverbial crapper with his play after a great start to the season and unfortunately for a date on the road is not what the doctor ordered to get untracked as he's a poor 3-3 with a ballooned 5.03 ERA away from friendly confines this year. The home side counters with Hisashi Iwakuma (0-1, 6.61 ERA) who returns from the DL to make his first start since April 24th; note that Iwakuma was ineffective in three starts before the injury and posted a horrible 6.35 ERA in front of the home town crowd. Recent performance always plays a part in my MLB handicapping process, neither starter comes in with any momentum whatsoever and in my professional opinion this number is indeed just a little low; play on the OVER.
