This is an 8* TOTAL ASSASSIN on the UNDER between the Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals.
A couple of capable starters face off in the opener of this three game set and when the smoke does finally clear at the end of this one, I expect this total to sneak below the posted number. The home side sends newly acquired Justin Masterson to the hill; Masterson was shaky in his first couple starts for his new team but is coming off his best outing thus far. In fact, Masterson has won three straight, most recently scattering three hits over seven scoreless frames in his team's 5-2 win over the Fish on Wednesday. The visitors counter with Mike Leake (9-11, 3.59 ERA) who has given up two runs over 14 innings to split two games vs. St. Louis this year (note that he gave up four hits over eight frames in a 4-0 win at Busch on April 9th). Leake is going to have to be sharp, his team has lost seven of nine and was just swept in doubleheader at Colorado on Sunday, suffice it to say I think the Reds are going to be tired here. This has all the makings of a classic pitchers, these starters will be the main storyline in tomorrow's summaries; play on the UNDER.
