AAA's 10* *Mariners/Tigers* AMERICAN LEAGUE BLOCKBUSTER (Hernandez/Price!)
(MLB) Seattle vs. Detroit, 08/16/2014 3:08 PM, Score: 2 - 4
Money Line: 103.00 Seattle (Away)
Result: Loss
This is a 10* BLOCKBUSTER on the Seattle Mariners.

I believe that the momentum that Seattle has created for itself is a very real thing and look for the visitors to continue to roll behind what I believe to be the clearly superior starter backing it on the mound tonight. The M's have won nine of ten to move a half game ahead of the Tigers to take sole possession of one of the wild-card spots after yesterday's 7-2 victory. And now the home side faces arguably the best hurler in the league on Saturday night, Felix Hernandez (13-3, 1.95 ERA) has gone 16 straight starts of at least seven innings while giving up two earned runs or less; in case you were wondering, yes that is a record. Most recently Hernandez would give up a run and three hits while striking out eight and walking none over seven frames in his team's 11-1 destruction of the Blue Jays on Monday (my RUN-LINE GAME OF THE YEAR!). During the record-setting run, "The King" is 9-2 with a tiny 1.41 ERA and 0.74 WHIP; note that over his last 121 innings of work he's struck out 134. And that's bad news for the home side which has always struggled against Hernandez, who is 9-0 with a very respectable 2.68 ERA in 11 starts vs. the Tigers since 2007. Detroit is trending in the opposite direction, it's lost seven of its last ten to fall 1.5 games behind Kansas City in the AL Central. I think David Price (11-8, 3.21 ERA) is going to have his hands full vs. this red hot Mariners lineup; note that Price saw his streak of 14 consecutive starts of going at least seven innings end in his last outing Sunday as he got shelled for four runs over six frames in a 6-5, 19-inning loss to Toronto. Seattle has the edge on the mound, at the plate and in the momentum department, in my humble opinion, this is the very definition of great line value; play on SEATTLE.
