This is a 10* ART OF WAR on the Cincinnati Reds.

The home side is against the ropes, I like for it to finally stop the slide and to find a way to get the job done at the end of this one. Cincinnati has to be liking its chances in sending Johnny Cueto (10-6, 2.18 ERA) to the hill; Cueto will be seeking his sixth victory in his last seven decisions and at the same time, help his team avoid and eight-game losing streak. The Reds are still without a victory after the All Star break following yesterday's 4-1 loss to the Nats at Great American Ball Park. Cueto has been dynamite of late though, he's 5-1 with a 2.56 ERA over his last eight starts and ranks among the league's best in ERA and strikeouts, his opposition is hitting a paltry .184 off him, the lowest in the majors. Cueto is coming off a sub-par outing, but looks to get untracked in front of the home town crowd, a place where he's already an awesome 7-3 with a tiny 1.93 ERA over 11 starts this season (note, that despite a 5.34 ERA in five career home starts vs. the Nationals he's 3-1 overall). Washington has been on a roll of late, it's won seven of nine, but I think this sets up as a classic letdown spot, especially as it sends the inconsistent Gio Gonzalez (6-5, 3.74 ERA) to the hill; Gonzalez is coming off a brutal outing in which he gave up three runs over just 3 1/3's innings in his team's eventual 5-4 win over the Brewers on Sunday. Gonzalez has enjoyed success against the Reds in the past, but this is simply a bad spot for the southpaw; Cueto gets the slight nod on the bump, but the overall desperation that I expect Cincinnati to be playing with today will turn out to be the difference. In my humble opinion, this is the very definition of great line value; play on the REDS.
