Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the UNDER between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Charlotte Hornets.

We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.

This particular play is based primarily on strong/relevant O/U ATS statistics and common sense:

As note that New Orleans has seen the total go UNDER the number in ten of 19 this year against clubs with losing records and interestingly in five of six against the Southeast Division, while Charlotte has seen the total go UNDER the number in 14 of 21 non-conference games this season and in 14 of 26 in front of the home town crowd.

The bottom line: The Pelicans have won seven of their last ten, including two straight. In their most recent victory they'd need two OT's to beat the Bulls 132-128. Suffice it to say, I think New Orleans comes into this one "gassed." And with a home game against division leader Houston on Saturday night, it's definitely not too hard to imagine the visitors getting caught "looking ahead" to that one. Charlotte has also been playing a lot better of late with three wins in its last four games, but we believe regression is also imminent (the Hornets have also recently just been dealing with the news that star player Kemba Walker is about to be moved before the trade deadline, which is clearly a huge off-court distraction.) When you add it all up, we definitely feel this number is a little high. Play the UNDER.
