As note that Vancouver has seen the total go UNDER the number in three of its last four non-conference games, while Washington has seen the total go UNDER the number in nine of 14 against clubs with losing records and in two of three this year after playing to three or more consecutive OVERs.
The bottom line: This is a tough road trip for Vancouver with upcoming games in Columbus, Minnesota, Edmonton and Winnipeg. The Canucks need to get off on the "right foot" and the last thing they can do is try to turn this into a "track meet" and beat the Capitals in their own barn. Washington on the other hand comes in a tiny bit complacent in our estimation after four straight wins (each game has gone OVER the number) and with "cream puffs" against the Canucks tonight, followed by light-weights Carolina at home, Carolina on the road, at New Jersey and then at home for Montreal. When you take into account the above strong O/U trends, all signs do indeed point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
