This is a 10* WESTERN-CONFERENCE TOTAL OF THE MONTH on the UNDER between the Portland Trailblazers and the Denver Nuggets.
REASONING: Divisional contests are always the most important. The Blazers got off the schneid and broke a four-game losing streak by besting the Thunder 114-95 at home on Tuesday, while Denver ended a five-game road trip just 2-3, most recently coming off a 112-92 setback in Dallas on Monday. These teams have played twice already this year and Portland has won both, including the most recent, a 115-113 OT victory in Denver back on October 29th. The Blazers rank third in scoring (109.8) and are 29th on the defensive end (111.4). Those numbers don't give much confidence on paper for a lower-scoring game today, but we think that the "situation" supercedes the Blazers' season averages. The Nuggets average 105.6 PPG, ranked tenth and allow 108.8, ranked 26th. From an O/U trend based stand point though, they simply don't get much stronger than this, as Portland has seen the total go UNDER the number in four of its last six as a road dog of three points or less and in three of four this season after a win by ten points or more, while Denver has seen the total go UNDER in eight of its last 13 against teams with losing records and in four of its last six when playing with two days of rest. These are two division rivals hungry for a victory and we're expecting a war. This one sneaks UNDER once it's all said and done.
