This is an 8* O/U SPECIAL on the UNDER Twins/Yankees.
The Yanks are on the ropes, as they've lost eight of their last ten. That includes a 7-6 loss at the Mets last night, letting a lead slip away late once again.
This is a make up game, as New York will be in Baltimore tomorrow, while the Twins return home to face Cleveland.
New York swept the Twins last month in three straight games, outscoring Minnesota 24-8 in the process.
However, I think this afternoon make up game sets up well for these starting pitchers.
The Twins go with John Gant, who is 5-9 with 3.78 ERA and who is 1-3 with a 4.85 ERA in 11 appearances for Minnesota. He's coming off probably his best outing so far though, allowing zero runs over five innings in a win voer the Indians. He threw 96 pitches, which was a high for his new club and there's no reason not to think he can't build off that performance here.
Luis Gil is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA for the Yankees. He's coming off his worst start likely so far, as he allowed three runs over four innings, while also allowing seven walks in a no-decision to the Jays on Wednesday. He did go on to strike out six though.
He issued as many walks as he had in his previous three starts combined, so I say it's an outlier.
He'll benefit from throwing in friendly confines as well.
From a situational stand point, I think this one sets up great as a "duel."
The play is the UNDER.
