This is an 8* CUSTOMER APPRECIATION PLAY on East Carolina.
The Gamecocks are 1-0 after a 46-0 win over Eastern Illinois. Senior QB Zeb Noland was 13 of 22 for 121 yards and four touchdowns. South Carolina did get 128 rushing yards and a TD from ZaQuandre White as well. The defense pitched a shutout, but they face a much stiffer test in Week 2. Over-reaction is something we have to be cautious about over the first few weeks.
ECU had a much more difficult opponent in Appalachian State and it lost 33-19. QB Holton Ahlers was 22 of 40 for 295 yards and two touchdowns. RB Keaton Mitchell had four rushes for 50 yards on the ground, while also adding five catches for 73 yards and a TD.
The Pirates struggled defensively, but again, I'm not going to overreact here. Eastern Illinois is no Appalachian State.
Look for ECU to bounce back, and for South Carolina to take a step back in Week 2.
