This is a 10* TOP NL AFTERNOON TOTAL on the OVER Phillies/Padres.
I've played the OVER over the first two games of this three-game series, and I've come up empty each time.
Third times a charm here though in my estimation. This is a big game for both teams. Each has struggled mightily over the last two weeks, and each is desperate for a victory here. I believe this will translate into production at the plate finally.
Kyle Gibson is coming off a loss against the Diamondbacks in his last outing, allowing three runs. Overall he's been very consistent this year, but note that he owns a pedestrian 4.70 ERA in four starts for Philadelphia.
The Padres go with either Ryan Weathers or Stammen. Weathers shiny start to the season is in the rear view mirror. I also don't trust Stammen to go very deep. Whoever gets the start, I like Philadelphia's chances at the plate this afternoon.
I believe these starters will get chased early, and that'll result in this total flying OVER sooner, rather than later.
