The first two games of this series have flown well OVER the posted number, but I think that the finale finally sets up as more of a "duel."
The Astros hand the ball to Luis Garcia, who is 7-5 with a 3.19 ERA and who is already starting to decline after such a great first half, most recently allowing six runs off six hits over four innings in what turned out to be a fortunate no-decision to the Mariners. The rookie has been super solid this year, so I'm viewing that last outing as an "outlier." He's been better at home than on the road, but he owns a sharp 2.62 ERA in all "day" games this season.
The Giants go with Logan Webb, who is 4-3 with a 3.36 ERA and who comes in off a strong outing agaisnt the Dodgers on Tuesday, unfortunate to receive a no-decision after allowing one run and striking out five over six innings.
Webb owns a sharp 70:22 K:BB over 67 innings this year and he's absolutely been at his best at home, going 2-0 with a tiny 1.61 ERA thus far.
Look for these two competent starting pitchers to garner most of the headlines in tomorrow's summaries.
The play is the UNDER.
Good luck, NP
