I believe Long Beach State has some underrated talent with the addition of transfers Isaiah Washington and Raymond Hawkins III. Washington played at Minnesota while Hawkins was at Alabama.
On the flip side, I feel the 22nd-ranked Bruins are overrated. UCLA is 1-1. The Bruins lost to San Diego State, 73-58, this past Wednesday and then snuck past Pepperdine, 107-98 in triple overtime, this past Friday. The Bruins' three leading scorers - Chris Smith, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Tyger Campbell - all logged more than 50 minutes in that game with Jaquez playing the entire game.
This is Long Beach State's opener. So it will be the fresher team. Long Beach State nearly upset UCLA on the road in last season's opener leading by six with less than six minutes to play before falling, 69-65.
